On the show today is Derek Murphy. Derek runs the site creativindie.com where he helps authors succeed as “a creative genius without becoming a starving artist”. This week we will focus on ways to sell more books, but we are already planning to have Derek back the following week because he has so much information to help authors. Join us live at 7 PST/10 EST.
SPRT #109 – Creative Genuis vs Starving Artist w/ Derek Murphy
@matmorrisauthor Thanks Mat. Talk to you all later.
@writerwade We can try haha
@writerwade out where? Not here. Link is still in the closet
@xgranville where's the party?
@xgranville is there one? I can't seem to find it
@xgranville Was there a link posted?
@xgranville first correct use of that word all episode
@PatrickSzabo Thanks so much Patrick. ;-)
@readtracyreed No not necessarily. Though for most indies the Amazon description will be the first thing the buyer sees, long before they ever get the paperback.
@readtracyreed They don't have to. If I buy a print book off Amazon, nine times out of ten, I won't bother reading the back cover when it arrives. Plus the more books you have out, the more hassle it is to update the back covers across all those books.
@ReneeKelley Any questions? haha
FYI regarding reviews. This is the link you want to include in the back of your book for getting reviews: https://www.amazon.com/review/create-review?asin=B005L35E3O <-- replace the ASIN with the book you want reviewed.
If the keywords are in the title, that get priority over if they are in the blurb or in the actual keywords
I can do any kind of formatting I want in Scrivener. I formatted both my books into print and had the ability to adjust every small detail.
@matmorrisauthor That's what I've found, as well. It works for everything I need.
@PatrickSzabo HOW LONG HAVE I BEEN ASLEEP?!
@xgranville alternate ending to Army of Darkness :P
@PatrickSzabo my beta readers use Word.
