May I give you some advice?
My advice to you (and myself) is keep it simple. Stop being overwhelmed with worries about your future author self and focus on what you can control. Write words! Everyday! Write everyday and rely on your support crew to encourage you and pick you up when you’re feeling down. In my humble opinion, that is the best thing you can do for your writing career. The rest will happen in due time, and you’ll be ready to handle it when it does. So, that’s what I’m doing. I’m forging ahead with words and when they are ready I’ll release them for all to enjoy. Did you catch that nugget about a support crew? If you don’t have one, get one. Find those people in your life that will help you reach your goals. If there are certain individuals dragging you down avoid them like the plague. Or better yet, kick them to the curb. This writing journey is difficult enough. I just added a terrific editor to my lineup and I already feel more energized and confident. Below are three pearls of wisdom from our conversation last night (paraphrased of course). Put them in your back pocket, sit your butt in the chair, and write some words.
Happy writing!
People love to read about people.
Don’t make characters, make people, and then I’ll care.
If that doubting voice pops in your head, tell it to shut the fuck up.
