We were supposed to interview Jason Whited but unfortunately due to technical difficulties (really bad audio) we had to abort. Fear not listeners / viewers, we will be rescheduling and Jason will be back in the new year.
Instead of giving you nothing this week we decided to continue for a half an hour discussing the topic of editing. So sit back and watch / listen to Liam, Erica and Xavier talk about their experiences with editors along with alternatives for those who are on little to no budget. At the very least get another set of eyes to look at it, people!
We apologise and hope you’ll be appeased by the half hour of helpful indie info on editing.
Note: The youtube on this page is set to start from the point after Jason leaves, when we decide to discuss editing. If you really want you can move the starter back and see just how bad the audio was–we don’t recommend it >.<
Question for the early viewers: what mistake do you usually make and facepalm about when it comes back from your editor?
YAY! I couldn’t get into the video feed last week…my dread internetz kept erroring out and crashing when it tried to load the vid.
BatmanErica My editor’s awesome…she puts peanut gallery commentary/nerd references inline with my manuscript when I’m not being clear. Or sometimes just because it’s funny.
Hello everyone!!!!
CateMorgan I like it when mine leaves a LOL in the comments 🙂
So, anyone got any burning questions for the editor?
Don’t forget to read the guest blog post! I made a cute image too http://selfpublishingroundtable.com/happy-kindlemas/

Hello, all!
Hey ChrishaunKellerHanna !
BatmanErica ChrishaunKellerHanna 😀
ChrishaunKellerHanna YAY, you made it! 😀
What does Jason suggest for those indies who maybe can’t afford a huge outlay of cash for an editor? Or even a moderate outlay of cash? Is there a way to effectively self-edit or are there more budget-wise options?
We’re saying goodbye to Jason and will see him again on a later show. We’ll keep going though so what do you want us to talk about?
Most editors will work with you if you talk with them and pay on time. And any author worth their salt will edit a sample 2-5 pages and will discuss it with you.
Also university writing centers are another lower cost alternative.
they slip with lube…
Me: I didn’t mean to write erotica! It was an accident!
Erica: What, did you slip? o_O
CateMorgan he fell in!
I guess that X’s catalog needs a fluffer…
ChrishaunKellerHanna buahahahahahah
Any other questions? Editing or not related? Want to know why X parts hair hair the way he does?

Great save guys! 😀
Really weird thing – I just lifted my mug and took a drink at exactly the same moment as Liam’s thumbnail. Thought I was on SPRT for a second. Ah well – a man can dream.
