Adam Poe you typo’d Wayne on the kboards thread.
Adam Poe BrennaAubrey I’ve never heard of this show before… are you new?
I expect to get answers about surviving the KU apocalypse. The indie shit monster demands his tribute after all.
Hi RolandDenzel , thanks for tuning in LIVE! 🙂
Wayne Stinnett, how did you get to be best friends with bookbub? The world wants to know.
kevinmichael3 – We’re mainly answering KU questions, but if we have time for other questions, we’ll definitely ask this. Everyone wants to know the secrets of Bookbub approval. 🙂
Ronny Khuri kevinmichael3 try not to get lost in 3000 word eelkat posts.
kevinmichael3 Ronny Khuri bahahahaha
Adam Poe kevinmichael3 KU + Bookbub = Party Time
I’m pulling some of my underperforming books from other stores and going to put them in Select / KU. I currently have one new book in Select / KU, as Wayne said don’t really need to promote the promos if they’re in KU.
Long live Sea Adventures conquest. All who wish to enter the subcategory must pay a toll to Wayne Stinnett.
BatmanErica Adam Poe Nonsense.
😉
Someone in Kboards said that there was an algorithim change before KU appeared.
Ronny Khuri kevinmichael3 there’s a whole lot of paranoia and conspiracy theories going around them thar kboards these days.
Question for Mimi – where do we see the charts she’s referencing?
KU-pocalypse reference. Drink everyone.
I wonder if KU will be the new perma-free?
If I was a reader that had KU, I think I’d read all of those HM Ward books that are usually priced at $2.99 and other serials like that 😛
Speaking of short fiction, I wonder effect KU will have on serials
FictionByAngela what’s the straight scoop on serials, anyway? Did they every sell well?
I wonder what effect KU will have on me shitting in my pants.
kevinmichael3 do you think it might make you stop shitting your pants? 😛
kevinmichael3 i hope you have a standing desk with all this pants-shitting
FictionByAngela I would say those readers that have KU and find the first in a serial, that they like, would binge read the rest of the serial 🙂
RolandDenzel FictionByAngela It’s my understanding that if they’re good, they sell like crazy. The model was “perma free” the first one, release the rest in 2 week intervals, then put them all together in an omnibus edition. I’ve heard of several self-published authors reaching great success with that process. People hunger for more of what they like. Serials are quick, adaptable, and give people more and more.
RolandDenzel FictionByAngela also, people seem to have shorter attention spans these days, so quick reads can be appealing.
Ronny Khuri kevinmichael3 it is what made me shit in my pants in the first place.
Long live the goobers.
No one buys comedy. People hate to laugh. They’d rather poop their pants instead.
Hey Bezos, I never got my invitation to camp fire this year. I assume it just got lost in the mail. I’ll forgive you if you make my book the daily deal. Regards, Hack Writer McGee
As Jeff comes alive a la Stephen King and wipes you all out…
FictionByAngela RolandDenzel thanks!
I don’t know if Rachel Aaron knows this, but her book is being discussed here: http://www.reddit.com/r/writing/comments/2jazog/how_i_went_from_writing_2000_words_a_day_to_10000/
BatmanErica FictionByAngela I’d love to write serials, but I hear they numbers were overblown in the past, so it’s hard to know if it’s worth it.
How can you know the truth?
Speak for yourself, Rachel–my Netflix subscription is My Precious. *licks TV*
KRESLEY COLE!! Immortals After Dark is FUH-MAZING!
How did Wayne Stinnett become Bookbub’s best friend?
What is the secret to conquering the sea adventure category?
RolandDenzel BatmanErica FictionByAngela Hard to know if it’s worth it. Serials are probably the hardest because, even if you combine it into one edition in the end, each story still needs to be a whole story. So, if you’ve got a 5 parter, you’re really writing 6 stories. Each book of it, plus the overall arch. It’s a lot of work. But I think that it could have a lot of reward.
FictionByAngela RolandDenzel the truth is relative here. You’ll only find out if it would work for you by trying it. Good luck 🙂
fictionbyangela@gmail.com I’ll see what this afterparty is all about 🙂
fun show!
No after party for me. The wife is back from Bulgaria!
😀
FictionByAngela Sent!
Adam Poe FictionByAngela Hasn’t come through yet
FictionByAngela Adam Poe Weird. There is no one in it aside from me now. Everyone else had to run. Maybe next week! 🙂
A day late again… great show
MarkECooperAuthor Better late than never! 😛 – Thanks for watching and commenting.
RolandDenzel FictionByAngela From what I’ve been able to ferret out, the vast majority of serials kind of under performed. The exception to this was the New Adult serial like HM Ward was doing. There were some authors who found success with serials like Dave Wright and Sean Platt- but it sounds like they were few and far between. And even Dave and Sean ended up dropping the serial format eventually because it was costing them money. However, I think that’s going to change with the launch of KU. I suspect the serial format could thrive in KU.
The biggest problem with the serial format has always been the pricing. People didn’t want to pay 2.99 for an episode. But if authors priced the books at .99 they were only getting 35% royalties or .35 cents per episode. So everyone started boxing the episodes into full seasons and fans just bought those. With KU though- they can read all the episodes they want for 9.99 a month, so price won’t stop readers from borrowing shorter books/episodes. And readers might gravitate to those shorter, easy to consume structure.
I bet there’s a revival, at least on the KU platform.
I listen to podcast using Podcast Repulic on Android. The latest episode on there is introducing the new roundtable. Not griping – because I know you’re just getting everything working with the new team – but thought I would give you a heads up that there’s a place your podcasts used to update that isn’t happening right now. I’m looking forward to listening to this particular episode!
